The Producers Guild of America has extended the application deadline for its 14th annual Power of Diversity Master Workshop. According to a recent press release, the purpose of the two-month program is to help develop aspiring and seasoned producers who bring diverse perspectives to television, film, documentary, and digital media.
The program selects 10 producers per year and exposes them to training in a broad range or topics including financing, packaging, and pitching. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring with a member of the Producers Guild Diversity Committee.
Past speakers have included successful producers like Shonda Rhimes, Ali LeRoi, and Bruce Cohen.
“World-renowned producers and individual mentors challenge workshop participants with state-of-the-art tools to prepare their projects for today’s marketplace. In the workshop, we celebrate all ethnicities, all religions, all genders, all sexual orientations, all ages and levels of ability, as we empower these creative producers to bring their full passion and unique voice to the screen,” said Julie Janata and Sasheen Artis, the Chairs of the PGA Diversity Workshop.
In the past, people who took part in this workshop have gone on to produce projects such as “Sleepy Hollow”, “Turn: Washington’s Spies” and other well-known films and television shows.
More information, including the application, can be found on the PGA Diversity Home Page. The flyer for the workshop is included below.
